Upgrade fails 'Something went wrong while trying to update your app'

When upgrading to a new version and opening the app, the below dialog box says “Update failed”

This may happen if the users of your team don’t have permissions for the directory in which you have installed the latest version of Postman.

Make sure all your team members have access to the directory, they should then be able to update the new version successfully.

This answer still does not help me fix the upgrade problem. I had PM loaded on my PC running locally and after the upgrade it has tried to send me to a web interface. I currently have no access to any of the local APIs that i have created over the last 6 months.
